(500) Days Of Summer (2009)

An inimitable tragic love story which portrays the 500 days of failed relationship.  The story is unfolded in a non linear narrative where the movie jumps in between various days of the relationship.

Tom Hansen though trained as an architect works as a creative writer for a well known Los Angeles greetings card company. Soon a girl named Summer joins as an assistant to Tom’s boss. Some time later in one karaoke party night Tom’s friend reveals to Summer about Tom’s feelings for her. Soon Tom and Summer start dating. However within the course of time we see how the bond starts to falter and both the characters get drifted from one another eventually leading to the closure of the relationship.  While watching this movie we try to figure out what really went wrong between them which lead to the situation which had no hope of reconciliation.

The reason why this movie works out so well is due to the chemistry between main castings, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The acting was flawless cusped with an appealing narrative style. Even though we are told at the very beginning about the outcome of the story, we still get drawn towards the story till the very end. Though I have said that this is a heartbreaking love story, the finale part of the movie does give a notion for future romance for Tom. Definitely, suggested for everyone; especially for those who are trying to recover from a broken relationship.

My Rating : 9/10
